July 2025 check in

Published on 22 July 2025 at 11:24

As we are in July, I figured we should look at my original fitness goals, see where we stand and update/change as needed!!

My goals currently for fitness from 2024:

  • Walk Yr Wydffa before my birthday next year
  • Walk 26miles 'very tough' terrain walk for Alzheimer's in June next year- have booked my place, changed from 13miles and slightly regret this, haha
  • Bag at least one wainwright whilst in the Lakes next year
  • Aim to get more Marilyn's under my belt- exact amount I am unsure of as I need to work out logistics and how to get places
  • Walk the two lake loop- 9.5miles and 'moderate' terrain- I actually did this and a extra mile or two with my husband and spaniel a few weeks ago! Woohoo already smashing goals
  • Run 5k in March 2025

Goal review:

  • I have not walked Yr Wydffa and it has already been my birthday! I am really anxious about trying it and finding it so so hard as hills remain my nemesis. I am hoping to do it before the end of 2025!
  • Completed my marathon trek! Was very hard, but amazing to have done it!
  • Bagged two wainrights- Castle Crag and Loughrigg, this was great!
  • Umm, not sure about the Marilyn's, I did walk Moel Famau, and have actually done this twice this year now! I had to get a new phone and it reset all my Marilyn's, so I don't have original dates anymore, which is sad. But now I am no longer training distance, could get a few more in I reckon!
  • We did the two lake loop around the lakes, and it was good! Around 10 miles if you go round the outside of the first lake, not the inside
  • I also completed my 5k in March, which was a trail run, in under an hour, and ran 5k race for life in July, 36mins and 14seconds! That was nice and flat though to be fair haha

So, my fitness goals for the rest of 2025 and beyond are:

  • Walk Yr Wyddfa
  • Complete Cheshire 3peaks challenge, in as close to 4 hours as I can!
  • Trail runs this year, first one is 11.5km in September and second is 7km in October, so pretty good distances!
  • Have signed up for a 10k and half marathon next year, thinking of adding a marathon in too, for running, not hiking this time
  • Improve on jogging, this will be ongoing looking at the distances I will have to put in going forward!
  • Do strength workouts, I have started this, just following some youtube videos and using my dumbbells, all over strength is good
  • Hoping to lose more weight, but trying to not make this a focus!
